Using Canvas Guidelines
Canvas Guidelines provide broad best practice guidance, recommendations and design point-of-view on topics which span multiple design solutions and implementations.
Getting Started with Canvas Guidelines
Canvas Guidelines are intended to be read and used alongside Canvas Patterns, Canvas Product Examples and Canvas Components. Guidelines contain broad design information which aim to provide users with a high level understanding of the relevant design principals and general best practice do’s and don’ts which will apply across multiple design solutions.
To upskill on a design topic, begin by reading Canvas Guidelines and then explore further information by using Canvas Patterns, Canvas Product Examples and Canvas Components to dig deeper into specific tactical solutions and implementations.
Canvas Guidelines are written for the design system by subject matter experts from research, data-analytics and design teams at Workday.
We need your input!
Design system documentation provides great value to all Workday design decision makers (not just designers) because it helps to spread design quality, strong design POV and design cohesion across technologies and products. Don’t feel you have to wait until something is ‘100% perfect’ to document it, we can support you to update and scale the documentation over time.
